Host – Cherry Galette

The dancing assassin! The girl who puts the cha cha in muchacha! From La Habana to Montreal, NYC to LA to the Bay, and everywhere in between, Ms.Cherry Galette serves up a nice thick slice of tasty, glam, raw, gritty, old world Latin cabaret and golden era belly dance meets city streets, sweaty sheets and jungle beats to create sassy, fun and soulful cabaret, and burlesque for audiences across the Americas. Cherry creates movement narratives exploring race, empire, and queer bodies in diaspora, and presents genre pushing work based in sultry, sacred, and profane fusions of traditional dance forms with burlesque and cabaret. Cherry is Co-Founder/Co-Director of Mangos With Chili, North America’s traveling queer and trans people of color cabaret that became a staple of queer performance in the Bay Area and beyond, launched over 70 productions though multiple national tours, developed the work and careers of countless QTPOC artists, and ushered in a new era of QTPOC centric art and culture. She is proud to have been an Oakland Tribune Timeout covergirl, and has also been featured in Oakland Local, Bitch, Make/Shift, Antigravity, the San Francisco Bay Guardian, and other independent media across the US.
Cherry has delighted, roused and stunned audiences on stages across the Americas including La UNEAC, Teatro el Sotano (La Habana, Cuba), Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse, Tipitina’s, One Eyed Jack’s (New Orleans), Palace of Fine Arts, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Brava Theater (SF), Buddies in Bad Times Theater (Toronto), Juste Por Rire, Le Club Cleopatre (Montreal), Columbia City Theater, The Triple Door, the historic Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center (Seattle), Bronx Academy of Art and Dance, The Knitting Factory, Bowery Poetry Club, WOW (New York), over 50 universities, and on club, underground and alternate stages in cities all over North America. Cherry was raised by a family of legendary music makers and innovators who centered song and dance as tools for transmitting hope, history, revolt, and the ability transform and lift heavy hearts. She is proud to continue her family’s work by giving audiences performance based in roots of resistance, tradition, and inherited movement and musical legacy and creating a burlesque and dance movement that encompasses all experiences, ages, genders, and bodies.

The Original AGenda Benda, alias drag king LEGEND Rx, likes holding hands, long walks on the beach, and threatening consenting kinksters with pointy objects. Published across several genres, Cole teaches at a local college and at gatherings like Black Beat, Butch Voices, ITLA Pride, and Creating Change. The intimacy blogger at Daddi Cole’s Charm School and the creator of the VIGIL Zines Collective and of LYING in BED – The Play, she is active in the arts and in the Leather Community.

Written In The Flesh (WITF) is an annual event to bring together those warm minds, hot thoughts and steamy words in a chill and relaxing environment. Though focused on providing opportunities for People of Color to express their sexuality creatively, WITF is open to all. Created by Yoseñio and enhanced, enlivened and emboldened by Ignacio, Written In The Flesh celebrates the passion that simmers in our thoughts and our loins. As we always say, “We want what turns you on to get us off!”


ONYX is an organization formed and operated by Men of Color who enjoy the leather lifestyle. ONYX, founded in Chicago back in 1995, provides education, fraternization and serves as a bridge for Men of Color to the greater Leather – BDSM and Kink communities. ONYX’s goal, to provide an informational and social organization to address issues specific to people of color who chose to project the positive aspects of the leather lifestyle and support our community and economic initiatives. ONYX has always been involved in charity work mainly HIV prevention and care organizations and those that aid LGBTQ youth have always been of note. ONYX has chapters in Chicago (Great Lakes/Midwest), Atlanta (Southeast), New York/New Jersey (Northeast), Washington, DC (Mid-Atlantic) and Los Angeles (Southern CA/Southwest) which are involved in contributing back to the Leather, LGBTQ and People of Color communities.
